Requirements for the Sacrament of Marriage

The following are the requirements in order to receive the Sacrament of  Marriage.   Arrangements must be made with the Church office at least 6 months in advance. 

1.       Birth Certificate
2.      Recent Baptismal Certificate with Marginal notes. (Cannot be issued earlier than 6 months.)
3.       Copies of 1st Communion & Confirmation Certificates  (If received Sacrament)
4.       IF married by law, a copy of the Civil Marriage License is required.
5.       Take a marriage preparation workshop.
6.       A witness for each person, one who’s known them since adolescence. Parents, older brother/sister preferably. 
7.       Fill out a Prenuptial Questionnaire.
8.       IF NOT married by law, a Marriage License will be needed no more than 3 weeks before day of wedding ceremony.
9.       If married previously, by church, civil or common law, that marriage must be annulled by the Roman Catholic Church to be free to wed.
